Fall Retreat at Lake Ripley, October 16–18 — sign up by Sunday. Scholarships for anyone who asks.
Who we are
Newman is where Catholic students at Lakeshore pray, eat, argue about Aquinas at midnight, and figure out who they are going to be. We have been on the mall since 1906; the couches are newer.
You do not need to have it together to walk in. Most of us didn't. Come for the free food, stay for the Eucharist — or the other way round.

The first Catholic students' club at Lakeshore met in a boarding-house parlour in 1906, three years before the university had a chaplain of any kind. The present chapel went up in 1968, brick by brick with alumni gifts, and has been full on Sunday nights ever since. We took St. John Henry Newman as our patron because he wrote the book on what a university is for — and because his motto, cor ad cor loquitur, is the whole job: heart speaks to heart.
